Anyone else getting more excited. Only a swing around the corner and it will be here? I still have way to much to get done, and I bet I will be scrambling come the week before.
Good friend I hunt with who lines a lot of geese up early season just suffered and accident. He was logging and the tree kicked the wrong way knocking him 30' to the ground. 6 broken ribs, collapsed both lungs and fractured 3 vertebra. That will be a big set back. I was looking forward to shooting up his fields. Hopefully he will be back, he claims he will be but I see him having a bit of a hard time sitting up fast in the layouts.
anyone getting fields lined up yet?

Dang that is horrible luckily he will recover from that. Hope he is able to make it out early goose and whack some honkers.
I am most likely going to hit up a lake in SE wisconsin for the opener been scouting a lot of geese in the area plenty of jewelry and my buddy did see a collar a few weeks ago. I havent seen the collar yet but that is all more reason not to head back to la crosse until sept 2

there is a white collar running around in kenosha.
We have drove around noting some of the wheat fields. I am going to talk to farmers next weekend and get the fields that we already hunt set in stone again

^better sooner than later to lock stuff up. I have a handful of fields we can hunt on, farmer friends are always nice to have especially ones ya grew up with. Only problem is convincing them your not gonna scare the dear out of the area.
Another few weeks and Im gonna have to start trying to find where they wanna be, or atleast try and find a big roost.

Well I got turned down about 6 times last night. I did get a yes on a wheat field with geese in it so that was good. I feel good about this early season because I have options now last year it was same 2 fields until stuff started getting cut.
one of our fields has about 100 in it. several ducks buzzing around also. It was good to see geese in the fields but honestly it really doesnt mean anything right now. They could easily move to another location in 24 days time.

Wheat fields are slim around here this year. Did some driving and saw lots and lots of corn.

Wish I had a few more around here, geese are already in them and by the time season comes they more than likely will go else where. Happens to often around here.
