What brand shell do you shoot? What size shot do you prefer to use? Are you gonna be trying something newthis year or sticking to what worked in the past?

I've been using the red federal like them a lot. I usually stick with 3's and 2's duck hunting using both 3" & 3 1/2" shells. From what I hear I don't know if its worth spending the extra money on he I shot or black cloud. Last year I went to shooting a full choke all the time and had literally only 2 or three birds that I had to chase down. It was either a clean kill or a clean miss, did a lot of shooting in the off season with it.

Big fan of the Federal Red Boxes if I can still find em. I have been shooting Heavy Metal though, been having very good luck with those. 3" #2's work well on both decoying mallards and geese, haven't had a problem shooting something dead yet with that load.

Do you think that he I metal is worth the price? Do you think you get cleaner kills, better patterns and longer range? If so I might have to change! Let me know

I think hevi metal is what I'm going to start out with.

Tanner, so far I have noticed cleaner kills and a little extra range. I think the half heavy shot half steel is worth it, but I don't think that the Speed Ball is worth the extra money, but that is just me. I'm shooting it through a Browning Maxus with a Patternmaster Code Black goose tube, it patters better than all the steel loads I have tried (minus HD loads).

Anybody use Black Cloud? Heard that it really tears up the birds, but I have never tried it.
Thanks, Tanner

Ive shot my fair share of high end and low end shells. I seem to be a natural at butt shooting. This season I shot a lot of winchester BBs in a 3 1/2, 1 1/4 oz shot and did darn well. Shot everything from teal to geese with that load.
Ive tryed a bunch over the years and was impressed with that specific shot. Velocity was rated at 1625 which may have helped me get off the rear a bit more.

Thanks, Tanner I have shot a few boxes when they first came out, I quit shooting them after I became afraid of what they would do to a bird closer than 20 yards. I would be more than glad to message you a picture, not gonna put it up here in fear of what some people would say, not a fan of wasting meat but hell how are you suppose to know exactly how on you are when you pull the trigger.

Yeah that is what I've heard from a number of people. I'm like you, I don't want to wast anything on a bird if I can help it.
Thanks, Tanner

Hey guys, I just patterned the hevi shot 3" number 4 shot at 30 yards. I also shot 3" number 4 black cloud. At the same yardage. Shot them out of a versa max with the Remington over decoy choke which I would call a full choke. I was blown away with the black cloud, pretty much all the shot were in the 30" diameter circle and all evenly distributed. No holes or clumps of shot, I was impressed. The hevi shot, I wasn't as happy with. All the shot was in the 30" circle but there were holes in the shot pattern and some areas with a lot of shot close together, very clumpy pattern, I wasn't impressed. Just thought I would post and tell you guys.

Tanner that over decoys choke would be your modified choke. The pass shooting one is more of a full choke. The timber one is the improved cylinder. I like using IC or Mod the best

Ok thanks, I thought it patterned really tight for a modified, but that makes sense. Thanks,
