The Milwaukee Art Museum is having a duck decoy day in conjunction with a folk art exhibit. Thought I'd post a heads up in case anyone was interested. Does anyone know/familiar with the gentleman who is giving the duck calling demo, Jonathan Boettcher?
Duck Decoy Day SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2014, NOON-4 PM
Explore the decoys (and quilts, walking sticks, carvings, and more) in Uncommon Folk: Traditions in American Art and the display of duck decoys, courtesy of local collectors, in Windhover Hall. Join us for workshops, demos, contests, and more. Special guest Herb Desch of the Midwest Decoy Collector's Association will share the history of vintage decoy making and collecting.

It does seem pretty cool, I think I will actually skip ice fishing and head down. My girlfriend is always bugging me to go to the art museum anyway lol

My girl wonders why I want her to start hunting Nothin wrong with a good ole poke in the blind. After that, fire up the cook stove and put her to some more use.

She did that last year. Sat there and made me a sausage and egg mcmuffin while me and my buddy called in a flock of mallards. If she hadn't been there, I wouldn't have got to shoot

Cant beat that. I tell ya what. I have found cooking breakfast is about as good if not better than taking a piss in terms of bringing ducks in. Never fails.

They always come in when I'm out picking up my dead birds, since I don't have a dog. They just never do it the times I decide to bring the gun out with me.

Or you decide to go adjust the spread. Not see a duck for hours and as soon as you get out there here some come.

I had 1 hunt last year, where we hadn't seen a duck for a couple hours. So it was time to pick up and go home. I get in the water, and a flock of about 30 woodies flew about 10 feet over the groups head, and guess which guy didn't get to shoot?
