At least the wolves are a game animal now... I mean, who doesn't want a big stinking rear dog pelt hanging on the wall.

2 of us went out this weekend. My hunting partner killed a small 8 point on Saturday and I managed to get the slip on a doe Sunday morning. Hunted full day Saturday and half day Sunday. About froze to death when I took my glove off and lowered my face mask, to try and eat a rock hard chocolate chip cookie on Saturday. hahaha.

burnettgunners hunt sounds like mine. My hunting partner got a small 8 pointer on sat. I saw two bucks and two does but never had a decent shot on any of them. Hunted until a little after 3 on sat when my buddy shot his deer. We had a long pack out so we stashed some gear in the woods and went back sunday to pick it up. Thought about sitting for a while but decided against it. He went home and I went and checked out a nearby pond to see if there were any birds around but it was frozen over.

I myself had a successful opening morning. My dad and i hunt a small plot 100yrds from each other. Two agricultural fields with a chunk of woods in between them. Being 100 yrds from each other we group hunt and i was lucky enough to bag and tag two bucks less than an hour after opening time on opening day. Shot he six pointer at 6:48, dropping him where he stood, went down to tag him, and while im tagging him i heard crunching behind me and the 8 point walked right up on me. Shot him at 20 yards while sitting on the rear end of the 6 pointer. The six pointer was my first buck i ever shot. A great hunt I will never forget Attachments:

I didn't even go this year. It crossed my mind when he had the big freeze, but we chased ducks on the springs and then went ice fishing.
From the folks I talked to, many had a tough season this year. I also saw many a hunters at the gas stations after only being able to sit and hour or two in the brisk cold.....
