Obviously we all love to hunt ducks, but how many of you take the weekend off and go chance after something a little bigger?

Not this guy, haven't even purchased a tag for the last couple season. Everytime I would sit in my stand and see nothing I would think to myself why am I here.

I am going to put my 2 days of deer hunting in this year and hope to kill something. There is no comparison to the adrenaline dump you get after downing a big deer but it is the wait to get there that drives me nuts. I sit on my rear all day at work and sometimes I just don't feel like sitting on my rear all weekend. At least duck hunting I am busy the whole time I am out there and normally I get to see a couple flocks or singles on every hunt to get me excited.

Agree with most. I'm going to go twice on opening weekend and that's it, my experiences the last few years have been so disappointing that I'm very near being done with deer hunting all together. The last three years I've gone almost as a courtesy to my hunting partner, I haven't had the heart to tell him I'm through with it yet. I'd go duck hunting in a second over deer nowadays.

Sounds like most of us are extremely disappointed in Wisconsin deer hunting, where does everyone hunt, or use to hunt? I hunt around black river falls, and every year it gets worse.

I hunt in La Crosee county on a small farm but I don't know how much longer it will happen. Farmers kids are getting older now and once they get married they will double the people on the small farm so I am sure I will get squeezed out. Deer numbers are not terrible in the southwest but it seems like pressure just keeps growing. Sooner or later I am going to have to pay to lease some land or buy some outright if I want to keep deer hunting in good areas. The lakes are all public and have plenty of birds to shoot and very little competition in my area. Normally I am the only one on any given lake of my choosing. That is another reason I prefer duck hunting these days.

The wolf population isn't really helping things either, to go along with added hunting pressure. I'm definitely looking I to leasing land for next year. But it has to be worth it for sure
