What do you guys think of this new "Spectra Shot" that comes in various colors so hunters can positively ID who shot a bird? Is anyone using this and is it really necessary? I've heard the stories of people coming to blows over a band etc but it's seems a little anal to me. Good idea, bad idea? Will you be using it this season?

Never heard of em where can you find em? To me I think it's a waste if someone wants the band that bad they can have it lol or simply draw straws, Rock Paper Scissors, or a good ole wrastling match will do. Unbanded birds who cares lol they taste the same either way no matter who shot it. Gotta love tho when you breast out a bird find your bb in it and lay it on your buddies pillow tho now that's priceless!

Lol! I guess it might be different if you hunt in large groups or with people you don't know very well. I have never shot a banded bird and I guess it would be annoying if someone claimed a bird that I knew for sure I had killed. My buddy has shot a banded duck and there was no doubt he got it so there was no dispute. But if there was a dispute I think we'd just flip a coin or something. No problem. Here is the Spectra Shot spectrashot.net/waterfowl-shot/

Lol I've heard about it and we joke about it. If you have any decent ethics its not needed. A good group of guys will no who gets or deserves the band. New guys or guys who have never got a band get it. If mult guys shot the bird then just do a drawing. Most the time if your hunting with good guys and not greedy turds if you shot a bird on the end and there was no chance that anyone else shot it its yours.
This shot would work good if you hunt with people who claim everything.
I wouldn't buy it.

I agree, using this in a group to keep bands is absurd... If people are going to fight about crap like that they can find someone else to hunt with. I have heard the angle that it'll help you see where you're shooting so you can make adjustments I.e. too high, too much lead or too little, etc.
