Pisses me off. 9 am opener, what for. Even the damned DNR is sick of wasting there time on calls on the border of the states that allow a regular open. Why hold meetings if your not going to listen to the people.
I will have a few words for the vandumb fella next year. Crock of bs.
And I am not happy about the dec 1 closing on the miss. Looks like I will be gunning in other states that actually have a grip on reality....

I agree, the dates are flat out silly and the 9:00 opener is ridiculous. The fact that its only observed for the duck opener highlights the hypocrisy since the goose opener is first light. I really feel for the northern guys because they don't even get a split. I understand you can't make everyone happy but with a little effort they should be able to find the middle ground. Opening this early is great for the average duck hunter who likes to shoot teal and woodies. Thats fine and I don't have an issue with it but at least implement a longer split in order to extend the season further into December for the late season folks.

^ agree. I'm not big on early parts of duck season. Teal and woodie hunting gets old fast. And pisses me off vandumb and the state doesn't hear us or the dnr on the opening time subject. If they honestly think its for safety they are morons and must not hunt. Regardless of the 9 am the landing loads up way early in the am. Boats have lights for a reason. Pissed off is an understatement at this point

I always hold out hope they will move the dates back but they never do. Get out your camo shorts and sunscreen for the opener. 9 am is stupid and I never understood the late start on opening day, but it beats noon.

Ducks are going to get stomped in the mud by those yahoos either way if they can't ID they shouldn't be shooting IMO

Whoever believes its for duck ID or safety needs to check their local water. Safety: opening day is no more dangerous than any other day in the field. The conditions are the same. Where is the data to support this rule? Duck ID: what do the folks do who can't ID birds on the 2nd day and the remaining of the season?

Honest to god you nailed it right there but yet van horn will take the 9 am opener to his grave due to his "data" whatever we will all be out there before 9 am going op there goes a woodie here come some teal whatever once 9 am hits every swinging dick unloads their gun and still stomps birds into the ground guaranteed
