So this seems to usually be a big topic of often heated discussions. I can understand both sides and there arguments. It does put a damper on regular open but it is nice to get the kiddos out and show them a good time.
Regardless of what happens I will be out enjoying it one way or the other. So since we have a early youth season, how many of you take the opportunity to show some youngens how to do things the right way? Makes for some good laughs and its good to brush the dog up imo.
This past season my brother and I had the pleasure of taking two total strangers out with us. A 12 and a 14 year old. Our last youth hunters had turned of age. These new young gentlemen had hunted before but with very limited success. Zeke and I had scouted a nice area and got them into some birds. Had to get stern with the older one a few times and he got a little gung ho in a few different areas of safety and wanting to bend the rules. Had to explain to him why they were there and why you dont break them. It was a good experience for all and somthing there uncle said they talked about for months.
Share your youth hunt stories.......

Just ask around. The last two we took was a good friend of mines wifes sisters kids, or somthen like that. I was a but surprised. Parents never met my brother and I before, but I had my friend line the times and place to meet up, and at 3 am We met them at a kwik trip. Briefed there dad a bit as to how we hunt and what would take place, and he let them boys go with us.
As a parent I would be a bit reserved sending my kid off with two bearded smelly fellas and an even stinker dog. But dang, we sure did have a good time, and I bet those boys shoulders hurt after that stint. Zeke also took them on a death walk cuz they wanted to see where some birds were going, little did they know how nasty the walking was. Short legs, oversized waders and nasty muck made for a few laughs from me as I watched them struggle to make it back to the boat.

That's what I was hearing. They wanted us to take them out again during regular season but our schedules didn't line up. They would have gotten to see how hunting really is. A lot of sitting.

A lot of sitting is right! Those kids must have shot 6 boxes of shells between the two of them lol. They had fun, the right way.
