I've been seeing this "Motion Ducks" spreader system popping up on a bunch of FB pages it. First of all, has anyone ever used one?
It may be a great product, I have no idea, I'd probably try it if I had one. But there are a couple of things that bug me about this, and alot of products like it. First off, they don't include an anchor, which is a bit lame in my opinion. They charge $45 bucks and $11 to ship it and for that you still have to go out and purchase a suitable anchor which is probably going to run $15 at least.
But that's not my biggest gripe. My biggest gripe is that on FB they always say "Bring in more birds...guaranteed". If you scroll about halfway down the page on the link below you will see it says the same thing in the description for the Decoy Spreader and Jerk Rig. "Will bring in more ducks to your decoys guaranteed.
So what's the problem? Problem is they don't offer any guarantee at all. Nowhere on their site, or anywhere else, have I seen words to the effect of "Try it out for X number of days and if you aren't completely satisfied or convinced that the Motion Duck system brings more birds into you spread, return it for a full refund". The product can be returned for a full refund within 30 days if it's in it's original packaging. No refunds after 30 days. And exchanges can be made for damaged/defective parts or pieces. But there is no "guarantee" regarding the actual effectiveness of the product. I hate that. I know there are no guarantees in hunting but it irks me when people advertise stuff as being "guaranteed" to perform with no actual guarantee at all. Apparently, to them the word "guarantee" means absolutely nothing.
Not to pick on the Motion Duck guys, I see this all the time. Not long ago a guy brought in some new brand of copy paper to the office and says "this stuff is guaranteed not to jam".
I said "Or what?"
He said "What do you mean?"
I says "Well what if it does jam? Then what? What do I get if it doesn't live up to it's guarantee?"
He says "That's a good question."
Typical.
All right I'm done. Rant over!! If you made it this far, thanks for reading. And I GUARANTEE my next post will be more interesting.
