So what yall got goin on this off season for projects or to keep your mind occupied.
Im re-doin some of the spread and gonna try some new ideas this season. Gonna add a few things to the blind for some more comfort and overhead cover. Re-wiring the console set-up on the boat. And as always workin the mutt chops.
Any of yall run an all silo spread for field goose hunting?? I am tempted to go that direction for ease of use and for the fact that I only early and late season goose hunt fields unless I find something worth my time. Ive read a few long threads in other forums about guys switching to all silos and still wackin the geese with out any draw backs of birds flaring or not finishing.

I'm going to be working on a canoe that I picked up cheap. Replacing a seat, and doing some painting on it. I'd like to fit it out with some outriggers for stability and safety but I'm not going to spend $250 bucks on the commercial set ups and I don't know if I'll have the time to make my own.
No experience with silo spreads, or field hunting geese for that matter. I've never had the opportunity to do it.

Another cheap way to stabilize your canoe, is some homemade spud poles. If you know anyone that has can do some alum. welding your set.

Yeah, I believe that would work. I also saw some nice ideas on Youtube using crab pot floats and PVC. Could probably do it for less than 100 bucks.

I'm putting a few minor modifications on my mud motor, installing new poly sheets on top of my trailer bunks, a new GPS on the boat, new 2800 lumen head lights on the boat, and if the bank account allows hydro turfing the top deck of the boat! Also have to build a new permanent blind that this springs high water took away!
And of course getting as many more decoys as I can!

I just got my first boat to make into a duck boat. Its nothing special at all but its just going to be a boat for the local lakes. Just got it in town today so these are the first pics I got of it. I will post more as the project continues. Attachments:

Let the fun begin Jtg. I enjoy a project.
Tanner, I like my hydro turf but at the same time I think the cheaper option are just as good. Mine is starting to wear sooner than I would have wanted.
And as far as more deeks go I am with ya on that. The more the marrier. I need to get rid of my pro-grade ducks. I was not impressed to say the least. Still beating around the idea of selling them.

I would have to look into it. My buddy I wanna say used some generic type. Looks and feels basically the same just you not paying for the "hydro Turf" name. I wanna say it was at menards. I have also lookin into the idea of EPDM roofing walkway pads. I have a bunch laying aound my shop.
I have another buddy who went with a foam type floar that almost looks like puzzle pieces. It def gets the job done and at a fraction of the cost.

painted up some decoys.
sell decoys, buy new decoys. upgrade anything and everything while I possibly can. I have done more this offseason already then ever before.
I plan to build a couple permanent blinds on blood river in ky and work on a few here we have.
probably add some decals to the new enclosed trailer.
string up new decoys.
work the dogs a bit.
finish up my goose silos.
im sure i will come up with more.
