Just checking to see who is putting out Waterfowl nests this spring? Or did you get some out this past winter? Also make sure to clean out all the nests you can every year, it will help on getting birds to nest in them again. Show us pics of putting them up or checking them!

I have 11 wood duck houses up right now. We put them up last spring and when we checked/cleaned them up out this past Feb, we had 4 houses with wood duck nest. 1 house had 3 successful nest in it. The rest of the houses had nest but not wood duck nest. Seemed to be blue jays, owls and maybe a starling or similar bird.

Awesome!! What part of the state were the nests in? I had three Wood duck nests on a lake just outside of Hayward, and only had Wood ducks nest in one of them.
Awesome to hear about the nests! Nice work!

I go to school at fox valley technical college for natural resources and in my one class we went down to Horicon Marsh to clean out the wood duck houses, put in New bedding and to plot the nests on the GPS. There were about 30+ boxes that we cleaned out. I'd say out of that number there were only a few unsuccessful hatches but most had 6-13 successful hatches in each box. Such an amazing feeling to get out there and help and also to see that they will be around next season!

At my friends place north of Appleton we must do between 75-100 houses. We cleaned them out a few weeks ago and I found this guy in one! I'm also the volunteer coordinator for the UW-River Falls Ducks Unlimited chapter and we have 22 houses that are going up this year. Attachments:
