Awesome stuff!
I'll be heading out this weekend on my own and on foot. It'll be a minor miracle if I see, much less shoot a bird, on this spot but I'm going to give it a try anyway. Hopefully I'll at least have it to myself. I haven't been there yet this year.

The warm weather and lack of wind made for some tough hunting, we managed but the hunts were a lot of hours. Poochie made his longest retrieves this weekend. Took more cast than I'd like but that's on me for the lack of off season blind work. If you look close he's the tiny dot out on the big water bringing back the duck, the second picture he is getting closer. Some down time as there was plenty of that this weekend Had 5 of my kids neighborhood friends get to hold there first duck, the boys and girls loved it. Here's a couple that couldn't get enough [/URL

Hole hopped all weekend up north. We had to go find them. The number of ducks was quite low. Only shot a pair of woodies. My buds dog had two excellent blind retrieves. Highlight of the trip. Really hoping the colder weather improves the numbers. Will be going back up Thursday - Sunday.

I busted my hump both Saturday and Sunday. Lots of hiking through some rough stuff with all my gear on my back and stood in the water/cattails for 5 hours on Sat and 6 hours on Sunday. When I got to the spot and there wasn't anyone else there I knew it was a bad sign that the local had probably shot it out. I saw ONE duck on Sat, shot once, and bagged a GWT.
I actually saw more birds on Sun (maybe a dozen all day) but never had a chance on any of them. There was a lone redhead swimming around, I stood stock still for over half an hour hoping it would swim close enough for me to swat it, but it swam off and disappeared. Lots of work for one duck, my whole body is sore today. lol
We need some colder weather and some fresh birds for sure. I think with some cold weather up north things could turn on again.

Weather is turning and looks like were are going to be getting a bit of a arctic blast in the next day or too. Possible snow/wintery mix and strong north winds on Friday. No hunting for me this weekend but I might try to play hooky Friday and see if any fresh birds come into this little spot I hunt nearby. How many of you guys are going to hit it this weekend?
