How many of you guys hunt out of permanent blinds? I have a location that I have one, and it is super nice to hunt out of, but you definitely aren't mobile. You are at the mercy of the birds with it, some days are comfortable and there is a lot of shooting, and other days are just comfortable. What do you guys hunt out of?

Here is a pic of the permanent blind I have. It was a great spot until the cattle found it and used it to rub against, and they beat down all the cover around it, but the birds don't seem to care to much, but I think it did make a bit of a difference. Attachments:

I love the convenience of hunting out of a box blind but you can't beat open water in a layout boat with ducks landing on top of you! In my opinion

Is there only certain bodies of water you can use a layout boat? I thought you had to be touching some sort of vegatation

There are 12 or 13 new bodies of water that you should be able to use layout boats on this fall if it passes. As of now I believe its just Winnabago, Green Bay, Chequamegon Bay and one other inland body of water I can't remember what lake it is. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. Yes if it does not pass you will need to be touching vegetation of some sort.

and of course lake michigan.
I have hunted out of several pits and blinds. I like the comfort but sometimes i prefer mobility. I havent hunted here enough seasons to pick out any spots for a permanent blind etc. But I do plan to do some scouting this season in the summer months to explore the lakes and get a better feel for it.

I'm not a fan of permanent blinds on public water. But they are great for private water. Other wise we hunt out of an aluminum framed hard sided fully insulated boat blind.

alot of the blinds I have seen for instance like eagle lake. the blinds look very run down and are not moved at the end of the season.

Yeah I agree permanent blinds on public water aren't really a good idea, and like you said most people leave them out there year round and they get pretty run down. Most of the time they never get used again after that first year I have noticed.
The permanent blind that I use is on private land so its really nice to have.

I need some clarification on putting a permanent blind on public water. If I put one up can others use the blind it says in the regs that it doesn't mean others can't use the same property the blind is on but nothing about the blind itself? Basically I don't want to put one up and get there in the morning and see someone else sitting in it and there's nothing I can do about it.

That's what I figured maybe I'll do a more portable setup.

I wish the state would ban permanent blinds on public water. It just leads to issues.
