So living next to the Bay of Green Bay I have access to a pretty good amount of divers, but hunting them is quite foreign to me? I own a dozen blue bill decoys and 6 buffleheads and no boat. So I am a strictly shore hunter. So I wanted a little advice from people who are bigger diver hunters on their tactics for divers. Number of decoys, how to make your spread, do you call to them, etc. Would appreciate the help, thanks!

calling.. usually no.
shore hunting limits you, but if i was shore hunting i would want as many decoys as I could get to hopefully draw them into closer to the shore.
put your goldeneye decoys off to the side in there own group and mixing the rest doesnt matter. I like to keep my buffies all together as well but thats up to you.

a couple times this season had single bluebills fly by making short quacks. replyed with same quacks and got it to turn and come into shooting range. the thing about divers is the more out in open water the better from my experiences.

We call the crap out of the divers, if they are flying past and not working I'll try anything, I've found cans and red heads to be the most responsive to it. We quack do cadences and lots of cuts, also we growl on the calls and sometimes I yell via mouth at them. Obviously if there working I'm not trying to blown them outta the hole but if there already flying past and not biting you got nothing to loose. This past weekend we found some of the divers needed to be finished with calls the best one being cuts and single quacks.
Run what you have for deeks, often more deeks with divers the better. With what you have I would run a blob of bills and the others off to the sides in there own species. Buddies and eyes like to sick to there own kind especially eyes, around where I hunt they seem to be the pickiest.
