It was a season of a few highs and to many lows for us. We put lots of hours on the trucks and boats in hopes of finding birds to mainly find empty skys. We hunted all over the place. The ducks sat more than I have seen in many years. There was one stretch where they literally sat for 3 days straight with only a few trickle flights and then we got those NW winds and they packed there bags. We put together some really good hunts and also had some very poor ones. Took out some new people this year and showed them a good time, thankfully they stuck out some of the poorer weather days and the last day we hunted with them we put a hurtin on some green.
Shot the p hole out of the cans this year but that got old fast and we were back to chasing mallards with limited success, maybe should have bit the bullet and chased more divers( I need to move to the Missouri river with the high mallard hopes I hold for this Mississippi flyway). We even shot cans in mallards holes.
Hunted with old wacknstack a few times, season had some good laughs and one great story to tell when we took our buddy Mr. Gordon to C***s Corner. It has ist name for a reason and boy did she live up to it on this day.
It was sad to see thing ice up so fast, hunted every day the last couple weeks and watched the ice conditions eat up the water. Busted a ton of ice this season but toward the end there were just not good enough numbers of ducks for me to stay motivated. There were plenty of GEs around but I am always chasing that mallard fix, just wish we had a better flyway for them.
