I usually use 3 or 4 Wood Duck Dekes. Were I am hunting this weekend, there are Woodies & Teal.
I usually use 1 drake and 1 hen, with another drake or hen a few feet away. Usually the Woodies are a little closer to the bank, under the trees, it has always worked pretty well.
I want to through out some BWT dekes.
Some ideas on how to set the 2 spreads up? How far apart etc?

Does much wind blow through this wooded hole? If so I'd set those teal up wind just a hair in little bunches depending on how many you have. I would also throw those woodies on a jerk string that is killer. Nothing too crazy cuz they already wanna be there

I have 6 BWT dekes, I would put them in a little more open water area. Very little breeze. Right now with the woodies, I don't need a jerk string.......they will come in!
I never used teal dekes, and have still had them slam into my woodie dekes.
Just wondering what you guys do........

That is a deadly combo. When I teal hunt I like to bunch up my teal more and use my mojo teal those suckers eat it up.

Id put the woodies infront of the blind or bank your hunting in close, and then on both sides of the woodies put two small groups(I place them tight) to make them look like there feeding. Almost like a broke up v pattern. Play with spacing and use what you like or change if the birds shy away.

I bought a mojo screaming woodie this year and never got it out on a wood duck hunt this year. Those north winds came in that first weekend in October and blew all my wood ducks out of the area.
Most of the wood ducks that I decoyed this year came into my Canada goose decoys which I though was odd. I will try the mojo next year and let everyone know how it goes.

paint any spinner green or any color basically for that matter and it will have the same affect. The species mojo line is for us buyers.

Set your spread with a hole where you want to shoot, leave plenty of room in between. Since it is the 1st day this year, they will come right in unless you are not concealed but even that is a non-issue the 1st few days. Good luck and remember the ThermaCell!
