Besides your spinning wing decoys is anyone here like me and feels that a jerk ring or some other type of motion on water is a must? It seems like most times I hunt over water the birds react better to a jerk ring rather than a mojo, especially on those calm days when you need water movement and vice versa on windy days.

I always have a jerk rig in my boat. It doesn't take up any room. We run it more than not. Some days we work it more than others. Also use pulsators and play with the hose adaptor on the bilge to try and make it not spray so much on glass water days.

I use a pulsator some. not as much ne more. i bought a wonder duck to try this season.
The best thing I have found is a jerk-a-spreader. Nothing looks as good as that thing

So how does putting the spreader work for ya in the dark? I have heard good and bad things about the Jerk a spread. I was tempted in the past to get one only to be suede by others reviews to just stick to a basic jerk rig set-up. I like the idea, but seem I got too much stuff to deal with already.

I keep the decoys on the spreader and place them in 12 slot bag. Walk out and set up the line and have someone tie off the other end or hold it tight. walk draggin line in my hand till I find the first loop. Once I find the first loop I clip the decoys on (I added small carabiners to the spreader) clip it on set it in the water and make sure it folds out the way it is supposed to go.
with out the carabiners it would be a pain in the arse because the clips are so hard to get open otherwise.

Sometimes I don't get why manufactures make products that are a pia to use. Youd think they had never hunted before. Simplicity and ease of use is key in this sport. Cold dry hands and small clips don't seem to go hand in hand.

anyone try flyers out. I picked a few honkers up and ran them over our water spread. when the wind hit the wings took to flappin. They didn't seem to hurt us but I can say they helped either.

They are kinda weird to me since I had never used them before. My neighbors dog is a turd so I put them on the fence line to drive em nuts.
